Mavericks Fall Despite Porzingis' Return
In a highly anticipated matchup, the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of their NBA playoff series on June 6, 2024. The game was broadcast live on ESPN.
Kristaps Porzingis made his return for the Mavericks after missing several games due to a calf injury. He put up a respectable 20 points, including 18 in the first half. However, the Celtics' defense proved too strong, as they held Porzingis to just two points in the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks kept it close in the second half, but a late surge by the Celtics sealed the victory. The Celtics' balanced attack was led by Jaylen Brown's 24 points, while Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart each added 20.
The Mavericks will look to even the series in Game 2, which will be played in Dallas on June 8.
